19 months!

Time is just whizzing by. You're 19 months old today!
What a month it's been! Christmas, your first trip to the zoo, your first hair cut, and your first trip to the aquarium (which will be coming in another post).
Quite a bit has changed in a month, too. Once our easy-going eater, you're now quite the finicky one when it comes to finger food. You still eat your pureed food fine, but lately you want nothing to do with finger foods at mealtimes. As snacks, you're all over it; but once you're in your high chair it's all over. We're back to having to distract you with other things at mealtimes long enough for us to feed your purees to you. Your favorite mealtime activity at the moment is taking your sippy cup of water or milk, turning it upside down and pouring the liquid into your regular cup, then drinking from the regular cup. You do this numerous times. You also like to put pieces of (the) finger food (we put out for you but don't eat) into your cup, dumping it out, and repeating. Hey, whatever keeps you entertained! It would be nice if you went back to eating, though. ;)
You've had a little cold (runny/stuffy nose) for a little while now, but you've stopped letting us go anywhere near your nose to clear it out, which can cause problems. Sometimes when you wake up earlier than either of us want, when I go in to get you, you point to your nose, and say (sadly), "nose." Um, yeah, I know. *sigh* I wish we could explain to you in a way that you can understand that letting us clean it out will only make you feel better, and sleep better. Ah well. We're getting through it. At least your mysterious face rash has cleared!
One of the biggest developments over the past month is your talking! I've referred to it as an 'explosion' of words, because it really does seem that way. I've lost track of how many words you can say now, since you have new ones constantly! You repeat and pick up words so easily and quickly now- it really is amazing. You surprise us with new words we had no idea you even knew, on a daily basis, and you've also started putting some two-word sentences together. It's so exciting!
You've been having fun at our mommy & me and Gymboree classes and your friends there. You love climbing up playground equipment and sliding down the slide...over and over. You love the playground!
You're also enjoying playing with all your new toys from Christmas. One of your favorite things to do is play with Mrs. Potato Head's glasses. "Glasses!," you exclaim, as you try to put them on us, or yourself. Sometimes I turn around to find you wearing them around the house. Only they don't exactly fit...but you don't seem to care. Clearly, glasses are fun. :)
I can't wait to see what next month will bring! Hopefully a renewed desire to eat more food. :)

Your pretty hair is getting longer and you've grown many more teeth. You must be eating enough food because you look very happy and healthy.
