Ringing in the new year
Our usual family New Year's Eve tradition is to have cocktails and make a nice dinner together at home after Lucy goes to bed. This year, we switched it up, deciding to accept an early dinner invitation with our friends, Ivette, Adam, and Ethan (Lucy's buddy and NYE dinner date).
We met at M Street Kitchen on Main Street in Santa Monica for an early dinner. It's a really cute, deceptively grown-up looking place, which turned out to be very kid-friendly. They have a fun kids' menu, and kids even eat free between 4:30 and 6:30pm! The food was yummy, and the company was wonderful. It was so nice to enjoy a dinner out with friends, something we rarely do.
We were able to chat, and the kids did great.
Yay for sharing a special occasion with friends!
We were able to get home to get Lucy in bed almost on time, and then we were able to spend the rest of the evening at home and ring in the New Year along with Lady Gaga and Ryan Seacrest.
On New Year's Day, we continued our tradition of having lunch at Lisa and Reid's house. I love it! Our feast this year included kim chee (and non-kim chee) chon, spam musubis, teriyaki beef, nametake/edamame rice, kuromame, and passion-orange juice. Just a few yummy tastes from home!
And, of course, ozoni!
Yum!
I love this tradition! It's so nice to be able to start off the New Year with good food and family!
I'm already looking forward to next year's celebration!

Also, we're so happy you can celebrate the holidays with family and friends. We're also so happy you're sharing in the 'old traditions'.
