7 months!
Dear Lucy,
You're 7 months old today! It's hard to believe how much you've grown in the last month. I know, I know, I say this every month. But, it's been extra mind-blowing this time around. Just check out what you've been up to...
1. You're eating solid food! One meal a day, and mostly cereals - rice cereal and oatmeal - so far, but it's a big step up from all breast milk, all the time. You took to cereal right away. Well okay, the first few spoonfuls went in and came right back out, but then you began to figure it out. You started to open your mouth wide and even leaned in for more. It's been a few weeks and you're still getting the hang of it, but you are getting the hang of it. I plan to make your food, so you have some yummy fruits and veggies to look forward to soon!
2. You're sitting up on your own! You've been able to sit up with help for a while now, but now you can sit up all by yourself. It's so cute to see you sitting up- you look like such a big little person!

3. You're crawling! You started "commando" crawling a few weeks ago, just a little bit, and then quickly forayed that into *real* crawling a few days ago. Who does that? Our Munchie, that's who! You really like making a b-line for Dakota's bear. Which is a bad idea for a couple of reasons. Thankfully, no baby-dog fights have ensued as of yet.
4. You're growing a tooth! The signs have been there for a while now- the drool, the bouts of irritability coupled with a runny nose. And just a couple days ago I felt something and Daddy saw something and lo and behold- what do you know? You have a teeny tiny tooth nubbin in there! It's just barely peeking out, but it's there! (ETA 1/23/09: You now have two tooth nubbins! Just one day after my original post and a rough night last night and guess what? You have another brand new tooth nub peeking out today!) It's a little sad to know that your super cute toothless smile will be going away soon, but I'm confident that it will be replaced by an equally super cute toothy smile. :)
5. Your hair is coming in! Okay, so this one is a little more of a stretch. Other people may not be able to tell, but Daddy and I- we can see it! Your head is a lot fluffier on top and your hair even sticks up a little bit now in the back...a whole quarter of an inch! You have the cutest fuzzy head. :)
Your favorite things to do these days is going over to your toy basket and either tipping it over to dump out a bunch of toys at once or just taking them out one by one.
You also love to crawl over to the coffee table and take out the books we have stored on the bottom shelf. We used to keep magazines there, but since noticing you liked to go over there, I've since replaced those with some of your own books. You really seem to enjoy music. You have a few musical toys, which you really like, and you like when we sing to you. You really like your crib soother (and I'm happy to say it lives up to it's name). We turn it on when we put you down for naps and you're usually out in no time. Sometimes you also bang your head against it, so you still need to grasp the whole cause-and-effect thing, however, you've learned how to turn it on by yourself, so you're obviously a pretty smart cookie.
It seems like you're changing so much, and so fast, these days! I'm starting to feel a little sad that I won't have my "baby" for much longer, but on the other hand it's so exciting to watch you grow and change and be able to do so much more. You're a really happy girl. You smile and giggle a lot, and it's contagious.
You're like a little ambassador of happy- you spread joy to anyone you come in contact with, including strangers who just meet you for a few seconds. You have a way of just making people happy. That is quite a gift!
You are so very special to us. Words cannot express how much we love you and how much joy you bring to us every single day. Happy 7 months, Lucy Goose!
