17 months!

Dear Lucy,

You're 17 months old today!

Boy, have you had some fun in the last month!  You celebrated Halloween- quite a bit.  As we've seen, you were a ladybug for a large portion of the Halloween season, and you visited a couple of pumpkin patches, too.

Grampa Howard came for a visit, so you got to spend fun times with him and your cousins Ally and Kyra.

You've been enjoying our times at our mommy & me class, Gymboree, and the times you get to see your pal Bregan.  Lately when we go for walks together you and B touch each others hands.  It's pretty much the sweetest thing ever.

Some favorites right now:

Favorite fruit: strawberries
Favorite veggie: broccoli
Favorite food: mac & cheese
Favorite snack: pretzels

Favorite (only) television shows: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Sesame Street (Mommy's childhood favorite).
Favorite books: The Shutterfly books made by me and Gramma F and the Elmo's Favorite Places lift/flap book given to you by Aunty Lisa.  You love looking at all the pictures of yourself and your people, and you love lifting all the flaps in the Elmo book. :)
Favorite shoes: Your new Ugg boots.

New words: Eh-muh (Elmo), stop, and I may have heard a mommy once.  You also try to repeat a lot of words now. :)
Favorite song: Stop and Go from Catch the Moon by Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Favorite new toy: Mommy's tape measure.  You found it one day and have been playing with it ever since.  You like to carry it around, munch on the ends, and you've even taken to draping it across the back of your neck like a bonafide seamstress!  You've never seen me wear it like that, so the craftiness must just be in your blood. This warms my heart.  I can't wait until we can do craft projects together!

You've become more expressive recently, always trying to let us know how you feel- be it happy, unhappy, or even frustrated.  But you still love to smile and laugh, too!  We can tell that you're picking up so much more lately, like words, phrases, and songs you hear.  You've become more adventurous with climbing, thanks to Gymboree and playground time at mommy & me. Your latest fascination is with slides.

And I'm not sure when this happened (perhaps it coincides with the amount of hair you have), but all of a sudden, you're looking less like a baby and more and more like a little girl.

But no matter how much you grow up, you will always be our baby.  We love you so, so much!

LJ,
Just like you, we love looking at pictures of you with your friends and family. My newest favorite is you with the tape measure around your neck.
