Lucy is 3!
Dear Lucy,
You're 3 years years old! You are spunkier than ever! In fact, all of the adjectives that could be used to describe you, you are now more of- funnier, smarter, cuter, more curious, more excitable, more fiesty, more YOU- and we love it!
Your birthday week was kicked off with a special celebration on the last day of mommy & me school. Mommy baked mini cupcakes, which you kids ate at snack time, and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to you. I wasn't sure how you would react to all of the attention, because you sometimes get shy, but you loved it and really enjoyed celebrating your birthday with your classmates. Since it was the last day of class, there was also a graduation ceremony. Like last year, it consisted of each of the kids being called up one by one, then you walked over a bridge to get your certificate from Teacher Kathy. It was an extra special day!
You had a wonderful birthday day, which began with a few presents before Daddy went to work, and then a visit with Gramma and Grampa F, who flew in from Hawaii that morning! We had a great day visiting with them, and you had your very first swim lesson that day, too! You did so great, and had lot of fun.
We all went out for a special birthday dinner at M Street Kitchen, before heading back home to get ready for your birthday party the next morning.
Your birthday party was so much fun! We had it at Joslyn Park, and it was the perfect venue! It was so special, because all of your friends were there to help us celebrate. Literally, ALL of your friends. We are so very lucky to have so many friends in our lives who care about us, and especially you! And once again, you were lucky to have two sets of grandparents in town to be a part of your birthday festivities, as Gramma and Grampa C also drove up from San Diego. I'll have to do a separate post on the party at some point (remind me), because it was such a fun party!
You're such a big girl now! You'll be starting preschool in the fall, which means you really are growing up. It's bittersweet, like all of your milestones, but I am filled with so much joy when I think about the girl you are and are becoming. You still have the ability to make us laugh with the little things you say and do. You will randomly say things things like, "I love B. She's my best friend." You have really wonderful manners a vast majority of the time, which is particularly evident at times when you aren't prompted at all, and when it's unexpected. You'll say things like, "Thank you for driving me to swim lesson," and every night, you say, "Thanks for drying my hair, Mom." Sometimes I also get a, "I like your shirt, Mom!" :) You are still quite the picky eater, but at least there are a few staple items in the rotation now that can be considered legitimate food. One thing you like that makes me happy is hummus. Your new favorite shows are Doc McStuffins, Bubble Guppies, and Team Umizoomi, although you still like watching your old favorites, too, as well as "the Netflix," where we have some kid shows queued up for you. You always want to know what we're going to do, and always ask before bed and nap time, and when you wake up. You love seeing and having playdates with your friends, singing along to songs on the radio in the car, and take lots of pride in learning how to swim.
