Postcard from Disneyland: the 2012 spring break edition
Brian was on vacation this past week, so we took the opportunity to go on some fun outings. On Tuesday we went to Disneyland!!
On the way there, she was excited, albeit subdued, with Woody in tow.
She started getting really excited on the tram from the parking lot on the way to the park. "Whee! I get to see Mickey!"
We went to California Adventure first. We love that place. There are so many fun things for the little kids to do and see, with some of Lucy's favorite characters.
During this visit, we mostly did things we didn't do the first time around, with some exceptions.
A favorite new (to us) attraction was the Disney Junior-Live on Stage! show- a live show featuring familiar puppet characters from several favorite Disney Channel shows like The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
Although the Monsters, Inc. ride was down, we did happen upon a cute Monsters, Inc. street show.
We also enjoyed the 4D Toy Story Midway Mania! ride.
After our adventures in California Adventure, we made our way to Disneyland!
In addition to must-dos like It's A Small World and the King Arthur Carousel.
However, this time we also went on a few new (to us and Lucy) rides, including the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (on which we sat next to Busy Phillips and her family), Jungle Cruise, and even Pirates of the Caribbean.
We were a little unsure about how she would do in Pirates and wondered if she might be scared, but she did great. In fact, she did great all day. We were out of the house for around 12 hours, and she was great the whole time. She ate her lunch like a big girl.
And we were especially proud of her each time we had to stand in long lines for rides. She did so great, was so patient, and even had fun!
It was a new experience for Brian and me, even with all the times we had been to Disneyland separately in the past, since the weather was actually mild! I don't remember ever being at Disneland when it was a million degrees in the summer. And let me tell you- it is a completely different experience when you're not a miserable, sweaty mess and dying of heat exhaustion! OMG, it was so nice! In the late afternoon, it even got...cold!
We had dinner, then stopped at a gift shop for souvenirs, changed Lucy into her jammies, and headed home. Of course, she was out in no time.
It was a long day, but so much fun! Can't wait to go back!
