14 months!
Dear Lucy,
You're 14 months old!
You've had so many breakthroughs this month, it's hard to believe! In the same week you learned how to drink milk from a straw AND you learned how to walk! It's been a couple weeks now, and you're doing both so well. You drink all your milk out of your special heart cup using straws. No more dropper!! And, as of last week, you're now off formula as well. You're now drinking straight whole milk! As you become more consistent with the amount of milk you can drink, we can start to eliminate the need for cereal (with milk) at meals. For now, this is great progress and we're so proud of you! Drinking milk out of a cup like such a big girl!
As we saw in my last post, you are now walking everywhere! In fact, you are now walking more than crawling. It's really pretty impressive how quickly you went from not walking without help at all to walking all over the house.
You've turned into quite the eater! You always eat all of your pureed food, and you've been eating more and more "real" food. I've been giving you different kinds of finger foods to try, and so far you've been liking it all. You eat bits of cooked veggies, cheese, pasta, toast, soup, and you love, love, love fruit! You learned the sign for "more" and started using it all the time while eating when you want more finger food.
Incidentally, the sign for more is very similar to the way you sign when you want us to sing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider". We have to use our judgement. ;) You also like "This Little Piggy" and grab for your toes when we start to tell you that rhyme. You're so cute with your gestures! Besides those, you also know the sign for "all done", although you don't say it on your own, you will do the sign when we say "all done." You also do certain gestures when we say certain words or phrases. For instance, whenever we get ready to go outside during the day and I need to put sunscreen on you, I tell you it's time for sunscreen and you rub your legs. When it's time to brush your hair, after we're done, we give the brush to you and you pretend to brush not only your hair, but ours too (well, mine, and Daddy's head. hee hee). Then you hold out the brush when you're done so I can put it back in the right place. You're also into hugging and kissing things lately. You've been on a hugging kick for a while, but the kissing is new. You don't do it all the time, but when you do it's cute! You kiss your stuffed animals, as well as animals in your story books. And occasionally us. :) A funny thing you do: Whenever you burp, you then say "bup", as if to announce what you had done. :) Other than that, you're still babbling much gibberish we don't understand, but we love listening to you regardless. You have the cutest voice ever, and it's so much fun to hear you express yourself.
Also fun- you recently had your first playdate in the park! We started going for walks with our friends Alicia (my age) and Bregan (your age), who live upstairs. We recently started going to the park together so that you girls could play together. OMG, you guys are the cutest together! You mostly look at each other and eat each other's toys, but it's so cute! It's so nice to have friends in the building!
We really can't believe how you can get cuter and cuter and more and more fun, and yet you manage to do it! You are the sweetest girl in the world and we couldn't love you more!
