13 months!
Dear Lucy,
You are 13 months old today!
In the past month, you had your first birthday party, what seems to be your first little cold, and as of yesterday, you just took your first two steps!
You're starting to understand more and more. Now when we ask you to do something (or not do something, as the case may be), you usually do it! For instance, when it's time for a nap, when I carry you into your room, if you don't do it on your own, I say, "Put your head down," and you do. So cute!
You're also talking (babbling) more and more! From your intonation it really sounds like you're saying something for real, but we just can't make it out yet. You're also starting to repeat words and sounds back to us, which is really fun.
You've been getting so much better at walking, too! You love walking with your walker wagon, and even without it, you're able to navigate around furniture so much easier now. And just last night, you took your first two steps...on your own! We weren't even trying to get you to walk to us! You just happened to be carrying something with two hands and didn't seem to realize you weren't holding onto anything else when you took a couple of steps. You looked so stable, as if you might just walk right across the room! You didn't, but you're clearly on your way!
You continue to be our 20 lb. bundle of sunshine, which is the greatest gift. No matter what else is going on, no matter how stressful or scary life can get, all we need to do is look at you, see your smile and hear your giggle and you just make us feel so much better. If we can get one of your super special hugs, even better! You are still the best hugger in the world! You're just starting to kiss now, too, which is really cute!

You went through a bit of a rough patch a couple weeks ago. At first we thought it was after-effects from the chicken pox vaccine, since we were warned of a possible high fever and diarrhea, which you did have one day. But then you also launched into a stuffy and runny nose, which lasted for about a week. You were also extra clingy and had a difficult time going down to sleep, just like the last time you were teething, which led us to thinking you might be teething again. However, we haven't seen any new tooth nubbins to date, so it seems like you maybe just caught your first cold. It was a rough week, but I'm happy to report you're back to your normal, happy, easy-to-sleep self. (Hooray!)
