4 months
Dear Lucy,
Hey, Munchie! You're 4 months old today!
We celebrated by going to visit Daddy at work today. You met Daddy's work friends (you were smiley and friendly the whole time) and then we went out to lunch (you fell asleep just before our food came and slept until we were just about to leave). All in all, it couldn't have been a more successful outing! Yay! Daddy and I decided we should have a weekly family lunch date- hope you don't mind!
Well, you're continuing to grow and change like crazy! You can hold your head up really well now, and even hold yourself up on your arms when you're on your tummy.
You can now roll over- from your back to your tummy. You can stay like that for quite a while now. Sometimes you roll back over onto your back, while at other times you seem to forget how and just get frustrated, so we help you out. Sometimes we put you down and a minute later you're in a totally different place!
Not sure you've ever been aware of how old you are. :) You started holding your head up in the hospital days after you were born, and now when you're laying down you act like you're trying to sit up on your own. It doesn't work or course, but you may be working out your little abs in the meantime! You can, however, sit in your Bumbo (for short periods of time) and you also like to "stand" with help.
You grab at the toys hanging down over your play mat now, and you're also now holding onto and playing with (and tasting) other toys. Most everything you get your hands on now goes right into your mouth- toys, fingers (your own or ours), burp cloths, bibs...also, you're a drooling machine these days!
You've been smiling a lot recently, which of course we just LOVE!
You smile really big when you see us, when we play "Pattycake,", and when you see yourself in the mirror. Even you seem to think you're pretty cute! :)
You sigh sometimes when you're really relaxed and about to doze off, and you make funny, high-pitched noises when you're happy, especially when you're on your mat.
You still enjoy our walks, especially our evening walks when I carry you in the Baby Bjorn,
although you're liking your stroller walks, too. Now you like to be able to see out.
Same goes for the car. You seem to like riding in the car more when we don't cover you, so we've been doing that lately, and you don't seem to cry as much, even during traffic or at stoplights. Sadly, you don't seem to like riding in your Bob stroller as much. Ironically, it's a much smoother ride, but you seem to prefer the bumpier ride of the Snap & Go. Go figure! Well, hopefully by the time we have to ditch the Snap & Go you'll like the Bob more. You'll be able to face forward by then, so that might help.
You seem so big to us now! We don't know exactly how much you've grown (we'll find out at your 4 month check-up next week) but one thing is certain- you're getting "taller", or "longer" is I think how it's described. We're going to have to look into getting a real crib for you soon, because you're almost ready to outgrow your co-sleeper.
Well, keep up the good work growing and being happy! We love watching you grow and change and learn as you observe the world around you, and as always we look forward to what the next month has in store!
