2 months!
Dear Lucy,
I can't believe you're two months old today! You're growing and changing so much- it's a little crazy! You've already outgrown your newborn clothes and newborn size diapers and can now fit into some of the outfits that seemed so ginormous on you just a month ago. One of the things that excites us the most these days is that you seem to recognize us now- you react when you see us. You sure know how to make really happy! :)
You're smiling a lot more in general, and you're also "talking" more and more, so we enjoy having little "conversations" with you. Your favorite word is still ah-goo, although you're making other sounds, ones that sound like hi and okay, among other noises that sound like *real* words. We're not kidding ourselves- we know that you can't really talk yet, but it is fun when we say something to you and you seem to respond back.
You're still as alert and observant as ever. You look around at everything around you and you really seem to be taking it all in. We've also noticed that your already strong neck is getting even stronger. We almost don't need to hold your head anymore!
You still like riding in the car and in your stroller, for the most part, especially when you're moving, especially fast. You're not so much a fan of just sitting in your car seat when it's stationary. You want to go places!
You still like to be swaddled when you sleep. You sleep in your co-sleeper for the most part, although you also like to nap in your swing (when it's not swinging). We think you like the feeling of being cradled.
You also really like the sling. We're still experimenting with different carriers, but so far you liked the Baby Bjorn carrier and you really like the New Native sling. You look a little scrunched up in there, but you must be comfortable, because you usually fall asleep once you're in there.
You don't sleep all the time, however. In fact, you stay awake for longer periods of time now, and there are times when you're content to just hang out, either in your co-sleeper, or sitting in one of our laps. Another couple of fun new developments: 1) we are sometimes able to put you down to sleep when you're still awake and you'll fall asleep on your own, and 2) when you wake up during a nap, you are sometimes able to fall back asleep on your own. We're so proud of you!
We're not sure how, but you manage to get cuter by the day! We're looking forward to next month to see what you have in store for us!

ETA: You had your 2 month check up with Dr. Fang today (Monday 8/24) and you are doing great! You weigh just a smidge over 12 pounds and are a little over 23 inches long. Dr. Fang confirmed that we are doing great with the breastfeeding, because of your awesome weight gain, and she even had to remeasure you because she thought her assistant made a mistake (because you've grown so much)! Yay! Not-so-yay- you had your first round of vaccines today- one in each thigh. I was worried, but you handled them like a trooper- cried for just a couple of seconds. That's our girl!
