16 months!
Dear Lucy,
Well little lady, you're 16 months old today!
It's been a fun month! For one thing, you got to hang out with both sets of grandparents within the last month when Gramma and Grampa F came to town and then when we all drove down to visit Gramma and Grampa C for a day. We all had a great time!
One big change this month- we turned your car seat around! So now you're facing forward just like everyone else! You look like such a big girl!
Now we'll get to see what you do back there! Having a lot of fun, apparently! :)
You're still babbling away in your cute voice. You seem to be saying quite a few more words these days. A few new words include please ("pees"), "ro ro ro" (for when you want to read your books that have the "Row Row Row your Boat" rhyme), and Aunty Ash will love this one: shoes ("shoosh"). When we're about to leave and I put you in your stroller, you grab your feet and point to the shoe shelf and say, "shoosh." :) I really want to make sure you'll be polite and have good manners and learn to say please and thank you, so I'm really excited that you're already learning to say please when you want something. It continues to amaze me how much you comprehend, even though your vocabulary is limited. You really do understand what so many words are. When you see pictures of a star or hear the word star, you do the gesture for stars that we taught you while we're singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." When you see or hear elephant, you make an elephant noise. Same with lion and tiger. And when you see or hear pig, you grab your toes. Because of "This Little Piggy," naturally. That one cracks me up every time. So cute!
You also learned to say 'hot dog', thanks to the Hot Dog Dance they do at the end of each episode of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Yes, we started letting you watch a television show. A lot of people have different views about letting kids watch TV, but this show is cute, the episodes are about friends and problem solving, there are fun songs and dances, and you love it, so I really think it's okay. :)
We've been going to our Mommy & Me class at the Emerson School every Thursday and Gymboree every Friday, and you seem to enjoy both. The Emerson class is tiring, but it's been going okay. You spend most of your time with the other kiddos outside,where you love to walk around and explore.
Instead of our regular class yesterday, we went on a field trip to a pumpkin patch. It was fun for the 1/2 hour we were there, until it started to rain!
You really enjoyed the short train ride. :)
At Gymboree, you love the songs, and although you pay close attention to our teacher Janna (who is from Hawaii and went to Gramma F's elementary school and Aunty Ash's high school!) you really enjoy - guess what - walking around and exploring things on your own. :) That said, I have noticed that group activities have been holding your attention longer, which is really neat to watch. For example, you still take off during parachute time, but now you come back, too. :)
Your best buddy at Gymboree is Maya. I'm not sure what it is, but you two have had a special connection since your first class. You guys always want to hug each other. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever.
Speaking of buddies, your BFF Bregan turned 1 the other week and we helped her celebrate at her Halloween themed birthday party last weekend.
We were pretty excited to have a trial run with your Halloween costume, which was a big hit. You were adorable! We're really going to get our money's worth out of your costume, since you'll have a few more opportunites to wear it. I couldn't be happier about this, since you're the cutest lil' ladybug EVER...in and out of character!
Seriously, you're getting cuter by the day. Daddy and I talk about it all the time, and can't get over how cute, smart, funny, silly, and AMAZING you are, and how much we truly love being your parents.
